Evaluation of the European Disability Strategy - Participate now!

How well has the European Union done since 2010 in supporting people with intellectual disabilities? You now have a chance to give your opinion:

The European Commission is currently evaluating the implementation of the European disability strategy 2010-2020. The strategy is the Commission’s main disability policy instrument and it describes a set of objectives and actions for the implementation of disability policy at EU level for the period 2010-2020. It is also the tool for implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities at EU level.

As the strategy is now reaching an end, the Commission is carrying out this evaluation in order to:

  • Assess how the strategy has been implemented
  • Collect feedback from stakeholders as reference for improving future policy in this field

The evaluation activities are ongoing, and interim results will be presented during the European Day of Persons with Disabilities on 28 and 29 November. One part of the evaluation is an online open public consultation which aims to collect feedback and views of citizens, institutions and organizations and other stakeholders across Europe.

The consultation will be open for feedback until 13 November 2019. The questions are adapted to the level of knowledge expressed by the respondents, so no previous knowledge of the strategy is required to take part to the consultation.

It is important to reply to this consultation and make your voice heard! You can reply as individual or as representative of an organisation. An easy-to-read version is available as well.
