Debating Europe is a website
where people talk about important things in Europe.

They talk about:

  • People’s rights
  • European politics
  • World problems

Debating Europe helps citizens ask politicians
and other important people their questions.

Debating Europe, the European Disability Forum
and the European Union of the Deaf are now talking about problems
people with disabilities have.

They are talking about things like:

  • The rights of Europeans with disabilities.
  • Ways in which people with disabilities can find a job.

If you have something to say about these things also,
you can do it on the Debating Europe website.

Debating Europe, the European Disability Forum (EDF) and the European Union of the Deaf (EUD) have launched a series of online debates focusing on issues concerning disability, discrimination and accessibility in the European Union (EU). The initiative wants to raise awareness of the many problems Europeans with disabilities are facing daily.

Regardless of the fact that more than 80 million people with disabilities live in the EU, serious accessibility barriers are still present across the 28 Member States. Mobility, education, healthcare or employment are just some of the areas where much more work needs to be done if we are to build an inclusive Europe. Debating Europe brought these matters to the discussion table, involving, among others, David Hay,  EUD Communications Officer, Aurélie Baranger, Director of Autism Europe, Yannis Vardakastanis, EDF President, and Ádám Kósa, the first MEP to use Deaf Sign Language in the European Parliament.

The first debate’s topic was EU’s commitment to uphold the rights of people with disabilities, while the second aims to answer the question of what can be done in order to create a more inclusive European labour market.

You can follow or join both debates on Debating Europe’s online platform:

How can the EU better guarantee the rights of people with disabilities?

What can be done to improve employment opportunities for people with disabilities?
