We ask the Czech Republic to adopt community care

etr The European Expert Group on the transition
from institutional to community-based care
 (in short, EEG)
is a group of 12 NGO’s.Inclusion Europe is one of them. They work together to make sure the
United Nations Convention on the
Rights of Persons with Disabilities
is respected by all countries in Europe.

They focus on the right to live in the community
because people with intellectual disabilities should live
with others as free and equal citizens.

The EEG tells local, national and international governments
that they need to respect human rights
and provide care and support where needed.

This week the EEG have shared with the public a letter
they sent to the Czech government.

The Czech government has plans
for some people to live in institutions.

Those people will be kept away from society,
unable to make their own decisions.

The EEG is asking them to stop.

You can read their letter here.
