The European standards for making information easy to read and understand are now available in nine additional European languages!
Within the framework of the project Creating Pathways to Lifelong Learning for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities (Pathways II), launched in November 2011, Inclusion Europe’s members in Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain published practical guidelines on how to make information and lifelong learning formats more accessible to persons with intellectual disabilities in their country.
In addition to the European standards for making information easy to read and understand,
the guidelines include:
- Training programme for lifelong learning staff
- Methodology on involving users in the production and quality control of accessible information
- Recommendations for lifelong learning staff on how to make their courses more accessible
- Checklist to verify accessibility of written materials
The materials are now available for free download at www.life-long-learning.eu
At the same time, each participating country appointed at least eight national Pathways trainers to deliver training seminars for education providers and persons with intellectual disabilities between November 2012 and October 2013.
