The European Commission’s proposal for a directive on a European Accessibility Act aims to set common accessibility requirements for particular products and services in order to help people with intellectual disabilities participate fully in society.
The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is holding a public hearing on the proposal for a directive on 13 April in Brussels, Belgium.
EESC has been preparing their opinion on the Commission’s proposal and is gathering civil society organisations, social partners, academics, EU institutions and various other relevant stakeholders for their input.
Inclusion Europe’s Policy Officer, Dr. Magdi Birtha, will present our organisation’s comments on how to improve the European Accessibility Act to make it in line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The conclusions of the hearing will directly influence the work of the EESC study group in order to put forward a refined and cultivated opinion.
