“I need a strong Accessibility Act so that I can get information that I understand!” Our easy-to-read editor Soufiane El Amrani puts his message clear in this video produced by the European Disability Forum (EDF) on the Accessibility Act.
751 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) will vote on 14 September whether the previously weak report of the Internal Market Committee (IMCO) is adopted or not. Inclusion Europe, along with EDF, wants to strengthen the report. If this is not possible, we support EDF in their demand that MEPs vote “no” to the adoption of the IMCO report. Having the current report as a basis would equal a very weak position for the European Parliament in the upcoming negotiations with the European Commission and especially the Council of the EU.
Therefore, it is important that every MEP is aware of the demands of the European disability movement. MEPs need to understand that the Accessibility Act is not just a piece of paper, but affects real people. We invite you to share the video with your local MEP and with other national decision-makers and officials. You can find your local MEP on this page.
You can find more information on the website of the European Disability Forum.

The Accessibility Act is a proposed law for more accessibility for people with disabilities in Europe.
We do not think that the proposal for the law is good enough.
It will not make a big difference for most people with disabilities in Europe.
Members of the European Parliament will vote on the proposed law on 14 September.
We think that they should change the law so it will become stronger.
Otherwise they should vote against it so a new proposal can be made.
The European Disability Forum did a video on the Accessibility Act.
In this video, many people with disabilities say why it is important for them.
