``Towards Inclusion`` conference at the European Commission

The European Expert Group on the Transition from Institutional to Community-based Care (EEG), of which Inclusion Europe is a member, will hold the “Towards Inclusion conference” on 16 January in Brussels, Belgium. The conference will mark the 10th anniversary of the release of the Špidla report on institutional care reform. The event is supported by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Employment.

The purpose of the conference is to evaluate the progress made during the 10 years since the Špidla report was published:

  • How has the EU contributed to the transition from institutional to community-based care?
  • What needs to be done during the next 10 years?

Among the speakers are people who experience institutionalisation, experts on the transition to community-based care and high-profile representatives of the European Commission.

The EEG is also working on a research to evaluate the situation of institutionalisation in EU countries. The results of this research will be presented at the conference. Read the research here.

The event will take place in the Charlemagne building of the European Commission on 16 January from 8h-16.30h.

Attendance is on invitation only, but the event will be live streamed. Watch the live stream
