In memory of Peter Lambreghts

etr Inclusion Europe was very shocked and saddened
to hear that Peter Lambreghts, ENIL’s Senior Officer
has died.

Peter was European Disability Forum board member
and worked at Onafhankelijke Leven,
a Flemish independent living organisation.

Peter was a great role model for self-advocates.

He helped improve the lives of
persons with intellectual disabilities across Europe
by fighting to help them live independently
with support to take part in society.

Inclusion Europe is thankful for his life’s work
and will miss him greatly.

Inclusion Europe is deeply saddened to learn of Peter Lambreghts’, ENIL’s Senior Officer untimely passing and would like to express our sincerest sympathies to his family and colleagues at ENIL and Onafhankelijke Leven.

Peter was highly respected and regarded as a valuable contributor by everyone who had the pleasure of working with him. He was a strong advocate for persons with disabilities and we extend our gratitude for his life’s work; in particular his commitment to community living and personalised support. His death is a shock and a great loss to our community as a whole.

Peter was a remarkable man and will be remembered affectionately for the difference he made in the lives of others across Europe.

Peter, we are so sad and will miss you immensely. You are our irreplaceable colleague, role model and fellow activist. We will continue our fight for Independent Living in an inclusive society with you vividly in our spirit.”  – Peter’s colleagues from ENIL, you can read their farewell in full here.

The loss of Peter and Lord Brian Rix so close together has been a shock and great loss to our community as a whole.

Our work brings the voice of people with intellectual disabilities and their families where decisions about their future are made.

This has always been incredibly important. It is even more so with the Covid pandemic drastic impact on their rights and lives.

Being visible and vocal on issues directly affecting millions of people requires your support.

Become Inclusion Europe supporter and help us keep doing our work.
