Mencap is an organisation for people with intellectual disabilities,
in the United Kingdom.

Mencap has a new website.

The website sells different products for Christmas, like:

  • Cards
  • Aprons
  • Key Rings

The drawings on the products were made
by people with intellectual disabilities.

When people buy these products,

the money will be used to support people with intellectual disabilities.

Even though summer is not yet over, UK NGO Mencap is asking us to think ahead about Christmas and already start getting prepared.

The NGO has launched a new  website, aimed at selling a diverse range of Christmas themed products – from cards to tote bags, kitchen aprons or key rings. The merchandise was created using festive graphics and drawings made by people with intellectual disabilities, and chosen in a nation-wide competition.

Apart from spreading holiday cheer, the website also offers a touching insight into the lives of John and Andrew – twins with autism and intellectual disabilities. Christmas in particular can be a difficult moment for families relying on outside support, and the two brothers know this very well. In order to share his story with everyone and bear testimony to the importance and impact of Mencap’s work in helping people with intellectual disabilities live an included life, John has written a story about last year’s Christmas day at their house.

It is never too early to start planning for Christmas, or donating to charity, so do take a look at Mencap’s website by clicking on the following link.
