Inclusion Member DSE (Down Syndrome Education) have launched a new online training course covering learning and development for young people with Down Syndrome in schools. Presented and led byProfessor Sue Buckley, the course offers convenient and low-cost up-to-date information and practical guidance for parents, teachers and therapists supporting children with Down syndrome.
Exploring teachings from the latest research and providing advice on evidence-based teaching strategies, the course serves as an ideal introduction for teachers and teaching assistants working with children with Down syndrome. It also provides an overview of the specific educational needs of children with Down Syndrome for parents to understand their child’s development and set individual goals.
The course includes 10 modules containing a video presentation, handouts and an assessment to work through at your own pace. Course participants are also invited to join an online discussion forum with DSE tutors where they can ask questions and seek additional advice. They advise around 20 hours of commitment for completion and successful participants will receive a certificate of achievement. It is open to participants from any country.
