Andreas Zehetner is a member of the steering group of the European Platform of Self-Advocates. He is a self-advocate with our Austrian member Lebenshilfe. Andreas has been advocating for accessibility in different areas of life for a long time.
A European high-level conference under the title “Voting for all! Improving accessibility of elections in the member states of the European Union” will be held on 30 and 31 May 2011 in Brussels. The conference is organised as a final event for the project “Accommodating Diversity for Active Participation in the European Elections” .
In the present study, Inclusion Europe looked with the help of its members and some national experts
at some of the core issues that would make mainstream schools accessible for pupils with complex
support needs. While case studies showcase individualised solutions and support, we tried to get a
more general picture about the policies and practices of school inclusion of children with complex
support needs.
