“Access City Award” is the name of a competition.

The European Commission has been doing the competition
for 10 years.

This competition is for cities in Europe
that do a lot
to become more accessible for people with disabilities.

The Access City Award is for cities
that are doing a great job
to become more accessible.

These cities can get the award:

Cities which

  • have more than 50.000 inhabitants
  • work on improving the access for all
  • guarantee equal rights

Last year, 7 cities got an award.

One of them was Gdynia in Poland.

Gdynia does many things
to include people with intellectual disabilities.

Cities can apply by 11 September 2019.

The awards will be handed out on 29 November 2019.

If you know a city in your region
that is very accessible,
tell them about this competition!
