Participants in the ICT 2015 event in Lisbon will have the opportunity to find out about assistive technology and data protection for people with intellectual disabilities, during an interactive networking session organised by Inclusion Europe and its partners.
ICT 2015 – Innovate, Connect, Transform, the largest European ICT event gathering more than 7000 participants, will take place on 20-22 October 2015 and will comprise a number of parallel activities, including a policy conference presenting the European Commission’s policies and initiatives on Research & Innovation in ICT, an interactive exhibition, as well as varied networking sessions.
Our session, organised in co-operation with partners from the SafeSurfing and Able to Include projects will have an educational role, informing the wider public, as well as developers and policy-makers of the difficulties people with intellectual disabilities are facing when trying to access technological developments. We will engage participants as “testers” of our different tools. They will get to convert text into pictograms or into accessible formats, will discuss the dangers of the internet from the perspective of people with intellectual disabilities, and will try to come up with solutions to increase accessibility while minimizing risk.
The session, entitled Helping people with intellectual disabilities access the digital world, will take place on 22 October, from 9:00 – 9:45 in Room 13. You can find more information about the session here.
