Last January, Inclusion Europe's Milan Šveřepa was interviewed by David Klimeš for the Czech news-server Aktuálně.cz. They talked about deinstitutionalisation, rights of people with intellectual disabilities and the use of EU funding to improve the social system in the country.

Milan was interviewed about the tragic death of 8 men with intellectual disabilities in a “care home” in Czechia and discussed the issue of institutions in the country.

People with intellectual disabilities were abused in a hospital in the United Kingdom. Inclusion Europe asks to close these institutions now!

Abandoned at birth and then secluded in Romanian residential institutions for almost 25 years, Nicoleta Nicolici and Ghizela Ghereben are living proof that people with intellectual disabilities can achieve greatness, if encouraged and supported in their goals.

Hundreds of thousands of children, young people, people with disabilities and mental health problems, older or homeless people still live segregated in closed institutions across the European Union (EU), suffering from the life-long impact of institutionalisation.
