“My Talents. For Diversity” is a project
that Inclusion Europe is doing
together with other organisations.
These organisations are:
- Plena Inclusión from Spain
- EVPIT from Estonia
- Antwerp Management School from Belgium.
The project is about including
people with intellectual disabilities
in the workplace.
For this we use “diversity management”.
Diversity management means
that people that are very different from each other
work in the same company.
This is done so that
companies can become more creative.
Diversity Management also talks about
having a nice atmosphere at work.
It is about telling companies
that when they make things
they should think about the needs of all people.
This can include the needs of :
- people with disabilities
- mothers
- people of different countries.
For this project we are also working
with an organisation from England
which is called Change People.
Change People is an organisation that works
with people with intellectual disabilities.
Change People employs people with intellectual disabilities
and also helps them to be employed
by other organisations.
Change People knows a lot on this topic,
because they have been doing this work
for many years.
In this project we will:
- Learn about who is the best at managing diversity.
For this we will find companies that already work
with people with intellectual disabilities.
We will ask them what they did
to make the workplace inclusive. - Learn about the good things
diversity brings to a company.
Especially when the company employs
people with intellectual disabilities. - Write a document for politicians
with things they can do
to make better laws
against discrimination. - We will train people with intellectual disabilities,
their families, and company bosses.
They will learn
how they can work well together. - We will learn how to measure
how much diversity there is in a company. This project is starting now
and it will last for 2 years.
