The Commission's reponse to the Coronavirus emergency

Since the beginning of the Coronavirus emergency, the European Commission has tried to support Member States with different measures. There is now a new instrument to support the countries: the SURE initiative aims to support workers and businesses stay afloat during and after the emergency. Read more 

Special grants for organisations working on supporting people during the Coronavirus emergency

The European Youth Foundation (EYF) is launching a special call for youth organisations that are supporting people affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Organisations working with people with vulnerable backgrounds, such as people with intellectual disabilities, will have priority when applying for the grants. Read more  

EDF calls on governments to act against institutions

The European Disability Forum (EDF) expressed deep concern about the situation of 1 million people with disabilities living in institutions all across Europe. Their living conditions, being already very poor in normal circumstances, became even more challenging during the Coronavirus emergency. Read more

Commission's call for proposal about the rights of people with disabilities

The Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (DG EMPL) of the European Commission, has launced a call for proposals to promote and protect the rights of persons with disabilities. Deadline for submitting proposals is 1st of June 2020. More info

Plena inclusión launched an app to tackle social isolation

Plena inclusión launced an app called "In front of isolation. We connect" (the original name, in Spanish, is "Frente al aislamiento. Nos conectamos"). The app offers documents, materials, participatory consultations on the topics of early care, health and more. It is available on Android Play Store and App Store. Online sport activites by Special Olympics

Special Olympics is sharing different resources about sport activities that people with disabilities can do at home. Part of the "Young Athletes" program, the resources include videos demonstrating different activites, guides for families and caregivers, posters on healthy play, flashcards for families to use at home.
